Today I woke up in my motel room feeling better than I’ve felt in the last two days. I’ve been sick with the tourista or food poisoning and have retreated to a motel room rather than spend my sick days in a tent on the beach. I’ve been well taken care of by Mark and Jack who check in on me periodically and take me places. Today we went to the marina to the San Carlos Yacht Club for Christmas dinner. Five dollars pays your way into the (mostly) cruisers dinner. We brought a fruit salad and a dessert. Everyone is asked to bring either a salad or a dessert.
We sat at a table and met the folks sitting across from us. We laughed and conversed and waited for our table to be called to go stand in the food line. We were one of the last tables to be called. It took patience to wait for our food. Once in line we received ham and potatoes on our plates and a selection of salads and desserts. Plenty of food for all. This is Christmas isn’t it?
It’s a Christmas away from family and friends. Christmas with Mark and Jack my new friends who brought me a Christmas teddy bear to keep me company. Such good guys!
I’m writing this from the laundry room at Barracuda Bob’s in the marina. The one place that has internet available on Christmas Day. I will leave shortly to join Mark and Jack on the beach for a bonfire. Fitting to end this pleasant day with a fire to the gods in this beautiful place. I feel loved and full of food for the first time in three days so life is good.
Take care all my friends out there. I send you Christmas love the year round and wish you all the best. I am still shaky and weak but strong in my conviction that life must be lived the best way that we can live it in each moment. Accepting all of our foibles and wonders. Being who we are takes courage sometimes and brings us joy. So joy to the world and peace to all people. That is my prayer for today.
