Hello my friends!

Hello friends and family.

I am starting a blog and this is the first post. I hope you all enjoy it and will check in periodically to see what’s new with me and my life. I am in Bisbee, Arizona for two months until the end of 2007. Seems right to be here in southeastern Arizona five miles from the Mexico border living in a predominately artist community.

Old Bisbee consists of two canyons tucked into the Mule Mountains that connect together in a three block Main Street of shops and restaurants as well as the post office and library. I’ll post photos of Bisbee so that you can see where I am currently living. It is an old mining town and there is a huge copper pit outside town that is very deep and is the hole left after the company removed an entire mountain and then dug deep to extract copper for many years. The company has recently been bought by another mining concern and there will probably be mining here again sometime in the future as commodity prices continue to go up.

There’s a movie out now called 3:10 to Yuma that has scenes from Bisbee. Check it out. It’s also a very good movie and has one of my favorite actors Russell Crowe in it.

I have rented the same apartment where I stayed last spring when I was here for almost two months. It’s on the third floor on an old brick building on a street called Brewery Gulch. The first floor is PanTerra Gallery which you can check out at www.panterragallery. com if you’re interested. The owners Chuck and Maralyce have been wonderful to me and Chuck was the first person I met in Bisbee when I first visited last January. I met him while visiting his gallery and he immediately made me feel at home and embraced by the community.

Bisbee has become my home away from home. A place to call home while I travel. A safe place for me to land between adventures. I have good friends here and there is always something interesting going on here: live music, art openings, films, political protests, classes, birding, hiking, meditation groups, a few good restaurants. And all within walking distance which suits me.

I love the desert and have I think since I was a child spending all those winters in El Centro and Phoenix. There’s something vast and peaceful for me in the vistas and openness and dry air. The sky is an incredible blue most of the time. I will write more about the area in another blog.

I didn’t expect to be here now. My plans were to be sailing in Mexico. However I needed to take a break from moving around and not being settled. I needed a place where I could be alone in my own place for awhile. A place where I could shut the door and not see anyone for as long as I liked. Does anyone understand that?

I still have plans to sail in 2008 and to study Spanish in Guatemala but I am open to whatever I decide. I am not making any plans right now. I am learning to pace myself and let go and be. Hard for a Capricorn moon person like me who enjoys goals and planning and doing. But I am happy and that’s a sign that I am on the right path. BTW I have discovered that we are always traveling whether we are on the road or staying put. There is an adventure inside as well as outside. So today it is an inside job.

So I invite all of you to stay in touch. I love to hear from you. I know I can’t see any of you very often but you are all in my heart and I do think about you and I’m glad you are all there in the world doing your own journeys.

Take care. Love and hugs, Nancy
